Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee

***Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee***

Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 50th Anniversary of accession to the throne. And not only her but all the Commonwealth countries are celebrating it with various activities and events.

We are looking forward to hearing your plans, ideas and how you think we could celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in Papua New Guinea. Would you like to help us with preparations for building a large bonfire in Port Moresby? This bonfire beacon will take place on Monday 3rd June 2002 in all the capital cities of the Commonwealth. We are working closely with the British High Commission and National Events Council of Papua New Guinea to celebrate the Golden Jubilee.

We would also like to hear from sponsors.

''20 Portraits and other Works''

A special event Connect UK has planned to celebrate and mark the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a fine arts exhibition of the works of Papua New Guinean artists. The exhibititon will be entitled ''20 Portraits and other Works''. We are requesting that all the representative artists display a special portrait of the Queen. We would like to select one of the portraits to be sent as a gift to the Queen on her Golden Jubilee from the artists of Papua New Guinea.

The opening night of the exhibition will be held on the 4th of June and it will be a 'private viewing' event (invited guests only) followed by a public viewing on the 5th of June. All works will be available for sale. We are also planning to exhibit the paintings at the National Museum and Art Gallery later in June.
